At the top of your post please post the following:
- Map Played (Turns or Score)
- Victory Condition Achieved (Note: Militaristic was goal for 7OTM09)
Turns Map

- Final Total Turns in All Ages
- Recap of turns per age (turns in Antiquity, turns in Exploration, turns in Modern Age)

Score Map

- Score = Score (for Score Games; see Announcement thread for calculation)
- For score game, include screenshot of your End of Era Age Progress

A few questions to consider:
- How did the new patch impact your game?
- What Legacy bonuses did you choose and why? What Civ did you choose & why? What other start up things did you do at the beginning of the Modern Age?
- What was your plan for achieving the Victory Condition? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?

- Early order for technology/civics? What did you later prioritize for technology/civics?
- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
- Did you settle more towns/cities in the Modern Age? What was your mix of towns vs cities?
- What were key production/purchase focuses?
- What government did you select? Which bonus did you chose most and why?
- Any other good info?
- How did you focus your use of influence for diplomacy?
- Any surprises/frustration/elations you ran into, how did you deal with it?

- Did you enjoy the game?

Turn 48 finish. Total 113+75+48=236

Oxford gave me 2 techs not on the path to Industrialization, so that slowed things a bit. Specialized all towns early to mostly resort and mining towns to maximize gold. The expansion attribute that increase 15% specialized town yields is quite significant, Generating 2.7k gpt at turn 18. Since buildings are a lot more expensive and no stacked gold purchase discount, had to rely on partial build and then purchase. First factory online at turn 26. At turn 34 had 7 cities running 48 factory res/turn. Finished at turn 48.

38 turns Modern
49 turns Exploration
102 turns Antiquity
189 turns total

Mementos: Lotus Blossom + Great Imperial Crown
Legacies: Took the “basic” two-point options for all of Militaristic, Cultural, and Scientific. Didn’t take any Golden Age.

I knew going into this game that the xp would unlock Catherine’s level nine memento (+2 science per age on tundra towns) by the time I got to Modern, and I wanted to make use of it. The map wasn’t ideal (would prefer a more horizontal continent), and I ended up with only five tundra towns to start the age, despite having it on my mind the entire game. With attribute nerfs, it was at least the most potent scientific memento I had available to me. But an Economic attribute still would have been better.

I went with three cities and 17 towns to start the age. Majority were mining towns, with a handful of factory/hub towns thrown in, and one each fishing and resort. It all added up to fairly nice yields to start the age.

I didn’t bother gambling on Oxford, and beelined straight for Mass Production. I got there on turn 17, with the cash to immediately buy three Factories. I continued to ramp up, ending up with around 50 slotted Factory Resources at the end of the game.

Wiping the one-settlement-each alliance of Confucius and Himiko was very easy, and my Banker only had three cities to visit on his tour. The age ended with four civs left, all of whom were allied to me. World peace was achieved… who was left to say otherwise?

47 turns Modern
57 turns Exploration
100 turns Antiquity
204 turns so far

Mementos: Economic Attribute, Scientific Attribute

The plan:
Tech as fast as possible to get to Factories and then buy ports, railroads and factories and trade/conquer/settle to get as many factory resources as soon as possible. Try to leave alive as few AIs as possible so the Banker has a shorter trip.

The execution:
Declared war to Jose Rizal and Confucius with the idea of eliminating them, they had three settlements each. Specialized every town, all 13 of them, and had three cities by changing capital and converting one for 200 gold. Specialization was mostly mining towns for the money, although there were a 3-4 cities where I went with Resort Towns, and not just in the Natural Wonders. I think one City Centre, a few Hub Towns (not sure that was the right thing to do) and a couple Factory Towns. Went for Oxford and dispersed a militaristic IP for the hammers, that gave me 1 tech on the way to Mass Production (lucky, although what I really wanted was the wildcard that comes with Oxford, to get a critical economic attribute point). I got to Mass Production by t26 more or less (I did not note it down sorry) and then the only way to be entertained was to contnue to wage war on Jose and Confucius. Jose fell on t11 I think and Confucius fell on t38. Should have weakened them in Exploration. I peaked at 46 factory resources and finished the age at t47.

I played well but, using Manpanzee as a benchmark, my science (and culture) was poor coming from Exploration with more than 20% less beakers per turn. That almost directly translated into my delay getting to Mass Production, compounded by the fact that Manpanzee had 5 settlements more than me, resulting in higher science and money from Manpanzee. I still need to be more aggresive, especially in Exploration, which is where he pulls away from me. Manpanzee is without a doubt the best player in the GoTM these days.

Turns Map

Total: 180
Modern: 35
Exploration: 53
Antiquity: 92

Mementos:
Glass Armonica (10% science and happiness when in an Aliiance for you and ally)
The Rihla (+1 Culture, Gold, Happiness, Science per turn per age for each attribute tree in which you have points)

Legacies:
Militaristic (3): 2 expansionistic attributes, 1 militaristic attribute
Cultural (3): 2 cultural attributes, 1 diplomatic attribute
Economic (0): -
Scientific (3+1): Lyceums, 2 scientific attributes

Government:
Elective republic for science

I started the age with 3 cities and 12 towns that I mostly converted to mining and factory towns.

I declared war on turn 1 against Rosé, Confucius and Ibn Battuta. I defeated the last of them on turn 20. Then I enjoyed my alliance with Himiko for a few more turns before I also declared war on her defeating her on turn 30.

For civics, I researched Modernization and Social Question first for the social policies they give.

For technologies, I went straight for Mass Production researching it turn 15. I only had money to buy one factory right away. Starting with 7 slotted factory resources, I made my way up to 41. The Great Banker was born on turn 34. With only one Capital to visit, the game ended on turn 35.

@GoblinMatron congratulations, superbly played! You killed 4 AIs in 30 turns, 18 settlements! Wow. You ended with 34 settlements and still happiness positive! Double wow. I really liked your "stop and think" moment in in t67 Antiquity and the focus on the science path in Exploration, I have made a note of both. I learned a lot, thank you.

Total: 202 turns
Modern: 42 turns
Exploration: 57 turns
Antiquity: 103 turns

T7: Eliminated Himiko by taking her last 2 settlements, so only 3 civs remained
T20: Researched Mass Production and build first factories with gold and killing military IPs
T37: Finished Economic LP with 7 factories
T42: World Banker completed Victory condition on 3rd AI capital

Thanks for the game. I enjoyed reading all of your playthroughs and learned a lot :)

125t in Antiquity, 102t in Exp, and 113 in Mod. And I should mention that in Ant and Exp I reloaded, mostly because I wanted to see how my early choices affected my survivability. I should mention that the Mod era ended in defeat anyhow, two turns away from getting enough culture points to start building the Worlds Fair. I feel like I could have won militarily, but was so focused on winning economic victory that everything else suffered. Clearly I am not ready to play at Immortal difficulty; but the latest update with better UI made it at least competitive (before, I never really felt like I knew what overbuilding or diplo would affect my game). Cheers to all of you who won and report how. Since my game does not follow the prime directive that no turns be replayed (and most of you would learn nothing other than "what not to do"), I won't attach my save. But I played through, enjoyed the game, and since it was the first Civ7 game I played in a long time, I'm grateful for the 7otM's which give me a reason to play and see what I can do.

Many thanks to all the other players who play and report their thinking process and what they did that was positive and what they did that was negative. For me, that's the whole reason to play -- even when I know the difficulty level is more than I am ready for. Like the NY Jets, we hopefully learn and get better, but we have no delusions of ever winning the whole thing.

Total: 191
Modern: 37
Exploration: 48
Antiquity: 106

I took Lotus Blossom and another scientific point for mementos. Legacies were lyceums + 15% science / -10% culture + 1pt. science, 2 pts. culture + 1 pt. diplo, 1 pt. economic, 1 pt. expansionist + land of opportunity.

I did the gambling on free techs with Oxford and sinking all my initial influence into a scientific city state, but did not manage to get anything useful on the way to Mass Production. I also picked the culture/science government, and with the +50% celebration length node in the diplomatic tree, got 15 turns of boosted science from turn 3.

I researched Mass Production on Turn 18, started with 4 factories (3 cities + Baak where Rizal built the Colossus) almost right away, then completed the 500 railroad tycoon points on Turn 32 with 47 resources and 7 factories. I eliminated 2 civs in distant lands (Confucius and Himiko, 4 settlements each), leaving 3 capitals for the banker.

Interestingly, because I had the node for +1 resource on towns but not on cities in the Economic attribute tree, a factory town has more resource slots than a generic city, so I should have gone with just 2 cities (capital + Waset with Tomb of Askia) rather than 3.
