Quick speed, Fractal map. It was something out of horror movie. The holy Sabbath was wasted solemnly on slugging it out with the remaining 3 guys. Nuking each other occasionally and goign back and forth on the chokepoint towns. It was a long sneaky contient and i was in the middle fighting two-way war. At midnight and after playing for more then 10 hrs i proclaimed victory by score (i think they disagreed) and left the building to get my full 4 hrs of sleep before work. One guy said he was 10 turns away form cultuaral victory , but he was sayign that for the last 2 hrs. Very suprizenly no crashes, only long turn times. i think I am doen with ciV untill the patch. Already got 900 hrs on multiplayer.

The last three games I have played with this host he has quit before rifles claiming victory (twice with midline scores).

The last time was last night after he broke his teeth on my defenses twice and claimed score victory (managed by taking out an Egypt noob and collecting his ancient wonders)

I would advise avoiding him if you want a game without quitters.

Yup, quitters have always plagued Civ. Usually the crap talkers are the first ones to quit.

He hosted small conts 8 player today. I rexed to 4 city, grabbing a key position in between our civs on our small island, it happened to have the only 2 iron. Spammed spears and took one of his 3 cities (he already dowed me earlier to steal a barb hut, we made peace right after), he rage quit before the city was even taken. Saying its all luck... He could have defended it if he had built spears and a few archers. The other annoying thing is he insists everyone plays on deity level so when the inevitable quits occur, you're left with deity ai's... urgh...remake.

You had much better starting location- meaning u can produce settler first and therefore grab iron and vital middle of the island, cutting me off to tundra side of it. You didnt even see iron there when you settled- so its just luck. I was only 1 turn behidnd with my settler and had to turn back. Yes , I would have played even if I had to settle in ice for iron but there was non anywhere and it was pointless to fight japanese with iron in classical age ,when I got none and i am German (basically no UA). To top it all off my capital had no production tiles and the few I had i had to make fishing boats with. I didnt rage quit- but surendered.I dont think I want to host any more small contient maps where its so uneven- pure luck. You did play well with what you were given, always welcoms to come back for a challange. I dont like eazy noob games anyways.

Generally small conts can make many 1v 1 duel situations leading to quits. Once you quit the deity ai rushed walls and it made it impossible to finish it off. It's vital players stay to the death. So many times a player quits after losing settler or border city, thinking they're doomed, only for the ai to defend well and force a peace treaty.

Ermak!! OMG that is hilarious...he was the most infamous game host in Civ4 hands down. Most regulars quickly made him the first entry in their ban lists. Does he still spam endlessly in-game about "hogs" before he quits?

I had a similar reaction. I also concur with the prior posters re: his claims to victory prior to quitting, and setting up Deity AI difficulty for lots of "fun" after the quitting starts.

FWIW, I usually find him talented and semi-amusing.

When I am 200% the score of closest guy and consistenly increasing, I find this a 'won' game. Yes , sure I can skip sleep and finish the game, but what will that change? I dont chase noob-hogs around the map when they cant hold a competative edge (due to syneptic misfiring in their brains)
