These two rivers are unconnected. However, each end at a lake. The two top lakes are connected, as obvious by the graphics. However, the 3'rd lake, which is connected to the bottom river, graphically is not connected to the water source up top. Yet, early in this game I got the notice my cities were connected right off the bat.

I assume, the engine sees all three lakes as touching each other, because technically they would be on a grid? I just don't see how the river/lake combo here could connect to make a trade-route, etc.

The title with the spear is the key. That is a riverside title which connect the two rivers. So the rivers are connected even if the lakes are not.

They used sometimes to carry boats over small strips of land back then. I guess it's something you can do, when you have all those slaver for the oars :D

This is not a bug... It is just the way riverside titles work...

It's not about the lake, but because of the tile that separates them. Same thing is happening in Sisiutil's ALC Ragnar game with an Ivory connected by river when the capital seems like it's not.
