Recently I have had my PC ask me if I wanted to start in safe mode when I was starting my computer and that Windows could not start normally. I selected not too and Windows started and ran just fine once I did power up and once windows started. I also ran a partial system scan on the more susceptible areas on my computer and found nothing wrong. This has happened twice to my knowledge. I am running Windows XP and I have had this computer since 2006. Is this the potential beginning of worse problems?

It happens to me a lot, usually when I hit the reset button. Do you go through the shutdown process or just hit the power button?

That just means that shutdown did not occur as it should have. Make sure when you tell your computer to shut down, you dont push the power button to do so, just wait for it to finish its thing. It may take a while,e specially on an old OS install.

A fresh installation of XP would most likely fix it.

I use the proper shutdown process. I am using a shared computer though. Also do you just mean reinstalling my existing OS or buying a new one?

Reinstalling. Why would you buy a new copy when you already have one...

Since its shared, make sure everyone else who uses it knows to let it shut down fully and properly

A lot of the time, the computer will shut off when I try to power up my PC. It will do that once, then it will power up the second try.
