I'm starting to get bored pretty easy and wishing the game had more layers
After reading some threads the wheels started turning
yes it hurt a little, I took some nuprin and after the squeaky noises subsided in my head, I'd thought I post and throw the ideas out.
First is, instead of upgraded in the usual manner, I'd like to see units scrapped for the materials that where used to build them... if that can't be done, or doesn;t turn into be such a great idea, into hammers to recycle. (perhaps this recycling idea could only be allowed for the mechanized units)
Which leads me to the unit trading. I want to see units actually being able to be traded, instead of 'gifted' only when they are within the borders of the civ you wish to gift them too. Trying to figure out a way to simulate the inevitable outdating and aging of said equipment is where the scraping comes in regarding the outcome of the traded units to the nation who you traded them too.
Running with the idea, I thought that unit trading should be an aspect of a contract where you had several choices.
1) selling or leasing the units that you have built outright.
2) offering an X amount of units, which would be caclulated by the amount of either spare commerce or hammers (or both) available to the civ.
3) 'leasing' the production rights to a tech, (giving you or them a more limited access to a tech without giving up you technological advantage all together by tradeing the actual tech) by doing this they could produce the units themselves for the agreed upon number of turns.
I'd assume this would take a fair amount of AI tweaking to make it fun and my not even possible, but I thought Id thought I'd try and plant some seeds and see what came of it.
