Has anyone tried a game without Science (and maybe Culture) as victory types? How did it play?
I guess the solo game could become more challenging and interesting.
See how my last game developed. Rome, Emperor difficulty, 14 civs. Some Real mods, like Real Strategy and real eurekas. 330 turns, shuffle world.
Gandhi took a lead in points, very far from the 2nd, but unable to reach victory unless hoping for scoring.
Brazil was great in culture, but China too, so no one could win.
2 or 3 religions fighting, so no one could win.
Diplomatic is slow.
So I tried Science. I was weak, but focused in this, sent a ton of spies to Korea (that was developing space projects already), delaying her and, next to the end, I had to nuke a spaceport!
It worked.I won by 1 or 2 turns before Korea could win. However, the whole world declared war and I would be severely crushed soon after this "victory".
I think India and Brazil were much better than me in this game.
Then, how about a game without Science (and Culture?) as victory types?
I mean, Science and Culture are already essential to your play. Religion, Domination and Diplomatic can be avoided and the "ideal" game would be decided in scoring.
However it seems unfortunate that the achievements related to science and cultural victory are not well represented in the score, specially culture. Space projects give era points, at least.
Well, I will try this now.
