I like certain kinds of starts in Civ3 dependent on my mood. However, I also enjoy the thrill of the random. After being in the mood for a perfect start and constantly getting duff starts, my mood changed and I was suddenly in the mood for a very difficult and interesting start, so, of course, this is when I rolled a perfect start.
I couldn't pass it up though, it was just so nice. Quite possibly the best starting position I've ever had the pleasure to play. In fact, I've been enjoying it so much I don't even want to min/max it and I'm enjoying taking the time out to learn pointless techs, settle pointless islands and even build up pointless towns of my conquered neighbours.
I don't have any specific recommendations for the map though, in fact I think this map is perfect for just about every play-style imaginable, from Learning n00bs to Hall of Fame autists and all in between.
I'm not going to give away any spoilers as the map really is a delight to behold when going about it in the normal way you would as you clear away the Fog of War, suffice to say that you'll be playing the English if you use the start provided. You could probably play a different Civ by playing for a bit and then 'Play Last World', but that won't guarantee you the same start the English get in the seed.
It's Regent difficulty, Raging barbs, Normal AI, usual winning conditions and the 4000BC save is attached to this post.
After all these years playing, I couldn't not share this save with you all, it's just too good to forget about.
I'll be delighted to see all your happy screenshots of delight over the years as you discover this map, but, please, PUT-EM-IN-SPOILERS
