Your small adventuring troupe just finished camping in a refreshing wooded meadow just off an unmaintained countryside road, made of packed dirt and flanked with pebbles, grassland, and trees, having had breakfast of the provisions whose acquisition from the last village was a mostly pleasant affair of singing and dancing, spoiled only by the most vocal of the selfish. You’re now walking along the road again, expecting the village of Oddbriar to be less than a day away. Oddbriar, of course, is the adopted home and domain of self-styled Duke Aldrix the Younger, uncle of Edelay by her father’s side, who you know through her constant chit-chat.
The sun’s almost at its highest, and the cool, breezy air of the morning’s giving way to heat and stagnation. You were just about to have lunch with what was left of the meals you prepared this morning, but you notice something strange over the distance through the trees. From where you stand, you can tell that it’s probably a makeshift barricade, made of piles of earth, wooden stakes, half-buried crates, rocks and small boulders. You can also make out the shape of a lone goblin wearing some leather armor sitting on a stool on the road, seemingly bored and playing with the dust with his spear.
[Perception] Though they’re somewhat difficult to make out through the thin trunks and low-hanging branches and vines, Aelorn notices a bunch of other goblins sitting around and eating under the trees near the barricade. They seem to be feeding and playing with a large, red beetle, probably of the fiery variety.
From the last place you stayed, you’ve heard rumors of goblin bandits who’ve recently entered the region, whom the villagers proudly claimed that they’ve driven off recently in a series of light scuffles. The goblins are said to be not a particularly violent sort who prefer intimidation to fighting, though they are reputed to be persistent despite their general cowardice. However, most travelers give in to their demands rather than risk fighting the lot of them, since armed cowardly goblins are still armed. The villagers noted that it is odd that Aldrix, who’s made a name for himself locally as a superb leader and ex-adventurer, hasn’t tried to clean up the mess in the many ways he could have; in fact, they haven’t heard from Oddbriar in a while, and they fear that Aldrix is ill or, gods forbid, worse.
The goblins haven’t noticed you, or so it appears.

Hey guise we'll be using this dice server for rolls. Game name is heroic-cycle-cfc, password is thundercats. Use the comment box to link your mechanics things with the die rolls; rolls without comments or with senseless comments won't be counted for anything.
Yes, I intended for the first thing you do to be some sort of encounter, the nature of which will be determined how you want to act.
This initiative system will be used unless it proves to suck.
Dungeon Master's judgment overrides any rule all the time.
When you do anything that has mechanical part attached to it, declare the mechanics in [brackets] with easily Ctr-F-able words that are also in the dice server for rolls, if applicable. All talk must be in “quotes;” all thoughts, if you must, in italics.
There will be no Out Of Character (OOC) discussion outside of spoilers. Spoilers come at the very end of posts.
Current players: oyzar (Edelay), Seon (Aelorn), Methos (Ash)
I said I'd introduce your characters, but I decided otherwise and would rather let you either share your sheets (which I suggest, as this is a cooperative game) or introduce yourselves in prose if you would let lurkers in on the things.
Feel free to PM me questions and I will answer the best I can. Probably overlooked a few things since It's 1 AM here and therefore I'm sleepy.
Oh, and finally I suggest using MSN/the other thread for cooperative planning if you need it.
