A new resource system

I think resources handled in quanities is a good idea. What is lacking in CIV4 and the civilization series is a good supply management system. What I mean by this is units should be checked for supply. Resources can then be divided into different types. One type IE: Iron, Copper are the type of resource needed to construct units. I want to build a swordsman so therefore I need 1 iron to do so....simple. The second type of resource is the supply resource. In the early times it was food. An army marched on it's stomach. In the modern times the supply resource is OIL. Your modern mechanized army...Tanks, Battleships, Aircraft have to be supplied with oil to stay effective. If you lack the resources your military forces would suffer the negative combat effects of being out of supply. Infantry types require much less oil to operate. A country that has a small oil supply can still rely more on infantry type forces & artillery as an effective defence.
