When i tried to start civ4 up today (the last time i played was a few weeks back, and it worked fine. I used the mapmaker thing for the first time for a little while then) it said "Error, Gameinfo/playerinfooptions\somethingelse is missing. I looked in My Computer and sure enuogh, the file Gameinfo was empty. I decided my best bet was to reinstall it, so i uninstalled and then while i was uninstalling it kept saying lots of random files were missing. Things like /mongols/mongolspearman/spear/graphic or /leaders/isabellaearly/sounds/furious/war. I'd guess about a fifth of Civ altogether was missing, as the uninstall would alternate between just one file being missing and then 20 being smoothly, to somethinglike 30 misses in a row. Then when i reinstalled, it went fine until the 2nd disc, when i got a similar error message. I told it to ignore the error, as the other choices were abort or retry, and a few seconds later it closed altogether. Now i'm thinking "NO NOT CIV FOUR!! Dear god, please let the civ fanatics tell me how to solve this problem!"

I justify the title since the damage is like bookworms. Just a handful of numbers and letters in each folder got eaten.

Try to copy the contents of the cds to your hdd prior to installing. Launch install by running the setup.exe from hard drive.
