Okay, I'm a total loser, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to return treasure to 1. my colonial capital in the Age of Discovery, or 2. Jerusalem in the middle ages. I can pick treasure up, carry it to where it needs to get, and then it just sits there. I don't get any cultural bonus points. If I disband my soldier-carrier, I can see the treasure again, but it still just sits there. Does anybody know what I'm supposed to do to claim the points? Thanks.

In Age of Discovery you need to grab it with a military unit and then load that unit onto a boat and just sail it into your capital. The game will automatically unload it for you with a message that you brought back treasure.

Are you sure you're not taking it to the wrong place? That is the only explanation I can think of. You certainly do not need to disband the unit carrying the treasure.

It sounds like you're taking treasure to your colonial capital (AoD version of the Forbidden Palace) instead of your national capital back in Europe.

In the Middle Ages scenario the unit carrying a relic simply needs to enter Jerusalem to gain the 10,000 points. Capturing Jerusalem first is the catch there.

is the national capital just the place where I've built the palace?

Your capital starts with a palace, so you don't have to build it unless you're moving your capital. Your capital has a star by its name, that's where the treasure needs to go.
