Adding Warlord Civs to Pre-Warlord Maps

I understand that making a vanilla Civ4 map compatible with Warlords is relatively easy. Just change the file name.

But I want to add the Warlords civs as well. How do I do this? Do I have to open the map in notepad and add in the information? Like:

"End player
Begin player
Team=19
LeaderType=Leader_HANNIBAL
[...]"

And so on? Would that work? Or do I have to create a mod?

I have the same problem.... even tried adding the required information ("Begin player...") via notepad - but doesn't work.
