Now, I've played Civ3 for a while and I think Aegis Cruiser is underpowered.Let me explain.
Modern frigates and cruisers are fast and have missiles. The old battleships did have cannons (big ones:) ) but they are nothing against the modern cruisers.
I do not want to change the attack power or range on the cruiser just let it carry one (or two) cruise missile (like the nukesub carries a nukemissile). This would give the Aegis ship more power over older ships. It does say in the Civilopedia that the Aegis Cruiser is fast and nimble. Then let it be fast and nimble. As it stands right now, the strongest and best ship is the battleship.Yes it should be the strongest in the industrious era but not in the modern.

I agree with you holmstr. In today's naval power the AEGIS system Cruiser is the most capable and powerful ship on the seas. Its mix of anti ship missile's, as well as tomahawks, and Standard air interceptor missiles make it the biggest platform for munitions delivery and evasion in the world. I don't want this to sound like an ad but my mod, The Realism Epic, has a completly re worked naval attributes that make the Battleship the most powerful ship of the industrial era but makes the AEGIS Cruiser the most powerful of the modern era. Battleships in my mod have the greatest naval bombard in any age but their cost to produce (much like in real life) is very expensive no matter when you want to build them (there's a modern battleship as well). I have almost every form of naval power represented in the Realism Epic such as Nuclear Attack subs, Nuclear ballistic subs, Super Carriers, and Guided Missile Destroyers. If you want to see it you can click on the link just above my sig quote or you cna visit the modpack section. I don't want this to sound like an advertisment though it certienly sounds like it, I just want to let you know that there are already modifications out there that modify naval combat to be more realistic.

Yes I agree. It is pretty easy to change the AEGIS cruiser to allow it to carry missiles with the editor. Another change you can make to make it a little more powerful is to give it blitz ability, which is something I did in my 'three new governments' mod.

Now,how do I change the Aegis in the editor.I've never used it 'couse I like to keep the game original.Thou, now I want to change the cruiser for this reason. Please help me.And your mods are all good.Almost like another game, but as I said I like the Civ as original.Maybe when I get bored on Civ (like that would happend;) ),I'll take a closer look at the mods.
Thanks again.

If you want the AEGIS to carry Cruise Missile's you have to do a couple of things.

-In the Ability screen (bottom right hand of unit area in editor) you have to select the Carry Tactical Missile with ctrl + Mouse click.

-Now increase the AEGIS Cruisers transport capacity to whatever you want.

-Now go to the Cruise Missile and Flag the load ability on the right hand side of the unit section. It should be in the orders area.

-Then hihglight the Tactical Missile Option in the same place you flaged the AEGIS Cruiser able to carry tactical missile.

Viola, an AEGIS that can carry cruise missiles

This will also allow AEGIS cruisers to carry tac nukes.

If you wish to avoid this there are a couple of additional steps:

Set AEGIS cruisers to "Carry Foot Soldiers only"

Set Cruise Missiles to "Foot Soldiers".

This will allow Nuclear subs to carry both tac nukes and cruise missiles, while limiting AEGIS cruisers to cruise missiles only.

- You also have to give the AEGIS the ability to UNLOAD, while selecting the "Naval Missile Carrier" from the box labelled "Sea"

- BTW, if you tag the cruise missile as a foot soldier, it will be loaded into all kinds of units which have the ability to carry foot soldiers, which is not good, since even a galley (which I doubt you will have some of these till the end of the game, but AI may have) can be able to mount the cruise missile. (Which is cheaper than to make other sea platforms to carry missiles)
