Ai has no workers!?

So I started up a game on Marla´s Europe map. Playing as Denmark (modded in) things were going fine and I conquered Scandinavia, sweet...

Being noobish I built the great library and went 100% moneypicking until Education would be researched by the Ai, and this is were things seemed strange as it took twice the time before Education was researched.

This is when I noticed that the AI hadn´t builded any road, irrigation or mining. Taking a closer look at his capitals I now saw he didn´t even have workers!!?? WTH?!!

--------------

Now I think I know the cause, although It should´t give that response. On the map I modded out the "clear forest" option for workers as I wanted the map to remain the same. This seems to have confused the Ai to such an extent that he killed off all his workers!

Have anyone else seen the same problem? Solution to it? Or you can´t mod worker actions or the Ai will stop workers? If so a real shame :(

Cheers!

Ps: Sorry if wrong forum, could´t pick between bugs or mods so put it here :)

I don't know about this problem, but I've never heard about someone wiping options for workers either.
What you could perhaps try - just something that came to my mind - is to greatly increase the worker turns for clearing forests, but not getting rid of the option altogether. It is a known fact that when a unit has more features the AI is more keen to build it.

I thought of that idea, but would´t it mean that the Ai instead will tie up a lot of workers trying to clear forest if I for example set it to 500 turns or something? Or will the Ai ignore options that cost a ridicolus amount of time/turns?

The main idea is that I want to keep the maps terrain as it is.

I can't answer this too well, I'm not a modder. What I see in the regular game, where clearing a jungle is set to 48 base turns (24 turns for a native, non-industrious worker) is that the AI workers are making roads through the jungle, but are hardly clearing it. Occasionally you'll see a single AI worker hacking the bush and the odd tile will get cleared this way, but they're hardly transforming the landscape; jungle remains largely jungle.
But woodlands get hacked away fanatically, they costs only 4 turns to clear in Conquests and the AI is completely transforming those landscapes.

So if I would like a forested area to remain a forested area, but would be tolerant of the occasional tile baing cleared, I would just bring clearing a forest in line with clearing a jungle.

But this might have nothing to do with the lack of workers you saw in your game, I'm just going by your own suggestion. If you're curious and want to know more, I would suggest to scan the thread for Marla Singer's map, if you haven't already done so, otherwise you could perhaps send a private mail to a moderator and request this thread to be put in Creation & Customization; the modding mob might have more helpful hints for you.

If there not using workers you probably don't have terraform ticked in AI strategies. If there is nothing checked in AI strategies the AI won't use it. If you don't want AI to clear forests 2 things I can think of xD Easiest is to have a resource but don't put it on the map and make it required to clear forests, it wouldn't work on random maps. You could also make a dead tech no era and give it to nobody then make it required for clearing forests this would work on random maps. 1 of those should work I think, oh and wrong forum ;) Should be in the main creation forum.

I don't think so. In the AoI mod, Workers are unable to clear Jungles or Forests, and cannot plant Forests until about halfway through the tech tree, yet the AI will build hordes of them.
