Aircraft placement in worldbuilder

This is hopefully a simple question. When making a worldbuilder scenario involving aircraft, I can stack fighters on the same hex as my carrier. Does that mean they will be considered 'on the carrier' when the scenario starts? Can I set them to be on intercept when the scenario starts? Same for missiles on cruisers or submarines as well I suppose. What happens if you make aircraft on a hex with nothing else, are they destroyed? Does the player have one turn to move them? How does the ai handle this?

I would experiment myself, but am on the wrong computer, and also figured someone else must know. Thanks for your help!

Ok, I tried some stuff and nothing worked. The only aircraft that 'survive' the scenario starting are those in cities. Ditto for guided missiles. Fortifying or embarking the aircraft in worldbuilder on the carrier does nothing. Ditto for missiles on cruisers and nuc. submarines.

Surely someone has made a scenario where they wanted planes on carriers, like WW2 or something. Is there some obvious work around I am missing? Does anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I could just put all the planes in cities but that is a pain for a human player to move them all and God only knows what the ai would do with them.

As far as I know this is an established bug that has to be worked around. I've run into this very problem numerous times due to forgetfulness. The AI seems to be Ok at moving its planes onto carriers when it's warranted. I guess by ok I mean it will occasionally use them. Still not anywhere as efficiently as a decent human player of course.
