Airfield Bombardment

If there is a fighter plane on an airfield, the fighter seems
to be immune to damage from bombardment, Why?
I don't even see the messages saying "bombardment failed".

This was noticed in the WW2 Pacific scenario.

No idea. My experience in that scenario is that if a fighter (or bomber) is in a city and it doesn't scramble to intercept incoming bombers, it is the first thing wiped out. I never stationed my planes in airfields, so I'm not sure. Are you saying that the airfield is destroyed and the fighter remains stationed on open terrain? Or just that ground units on the airfield tile take all the hits?

That's not a situation I see alot ... do you happen to have a savegame?

Yes, I have seen fighters based in cities bombed out of existance,
I was expecting the same thing on an airfield, but I was suprised.

It is fairly easy to recreate, start the WW2 Pacific scn. in hot seat
mode. Play Japan and the US. Use the worker in Hawaii to build
an airfield, put a fighter on it, then try bombing it with the
Japanese attack force.
