Do you guys use any kind of alarm (the built-in or other) to stop yourself from playing too much?

Option "occasionally" is missing

The only use for the alarm is to remind me that the rechargable batteries for my mouse (as CIV tends to go through a lot) are ready :)

True! I knew it was something I forgot! ... That might count as the last alternative then...

I look at my clock every now and then, but I should use the alarm on it to govern how long I play Civ IV.

no i dont have an addiction problem but i guess the first thing id have to do would admit to having a problem.

I don't use it. I generally stop playing when it starts getting light outside and i realise I've got to go to work in 3 hours.

Who need an Alarm when you have a Girlfriend/wife... :p

They know what time is it and how long you've been there... believe me...

Extro :)

So true.

They'll remind you of it sometime later on too.

I have tried using the alarm, but it doesn't work for me. It would go off in the middle of a turn, so I would "just" finish the turn. ... and then I would start the "one more turn" cycle all over again.

Anyway, this is really a nice little functionality. Little things like this make a game better - if the other things are fixed as well, but this I don't want to discuss in this thread.

I like this functionality, however.

I don't usually play for over a few hours so I don't use it. I can usually only play for anywhere between 2-4 hours. Prior engagements can pull me away easily enough.

They should make a type of alarm clock that you can input a certain number of turns and after that many turns are up, the game exits.

That would put an end to my one-more turn problem.

The alarm is one of the best features in Civ4. I use it almost everytime I play, and I usually adhere to the alarm. Although... there have been time where are I have instictually turned off the alarm and kept playing without realizing it until hours later...

I do my best to keep an eye on the clock (another great, yet simple feature), though there have been a few times where I kept on telling myself "one more turn", luckily though i've never been too late becuase of it.

Plus I've learned that my girlfriend doesn't like it when i spend so many hours playing the game (yet she's allowed to sit on MSN all day long, WTH?!)

Every day an alarm in my head goes off reminding me that is time to play Civ some more!

Yeah I use the clock as the 'alarm' myself. This was a nice little feature added. As for the gf thing, I have never understood that. Girls in general seems to not mind you being on a IM thing but dont load up a game!

Venus must be some weird freakin planet with all kinds of double standards, hypocracies, and thing in which there is no logic involved. But there is ALOT of p*ssy. :D

I always try to play civ when my gf is occupied with bashing orcs, nightelves, undead or humans :mischief:
