I'm trying to get together a 7-player all-night game for this Friday. We would play from something like 9 eastern till about 6 in the morning. The goal is to finish the game. I have two other players already.
It is a regular game, with no house rules other than no city bribe. However, it will be played under a special modpack that is being used in another ongoing, 7-player game. The modpack places the players in very nearly equal starting positions in 4000 BC, with special rules changes designed to balance the multiplayer game in important ways. For example, to prevent the typical Monotheism-->Republic-->Invention-->Democracy rush, there are new prerequisites postponing these technologies and requiring even development. Undervalued wonders and technologies, such as Oracle and Iron Working, are made more important both for realism and gameplay purposes. Also, the graphics are high-resolution. You can download the modpack by clicking here and the sounds for the modpack here. To install, create a directory called "EUROPE1" inside your "SCENARIO" directory, which is inside your main Civ2 directory (verify exact spellings). Unzip the files into the EUROPE1 folder.
Feel free to play this mod as many times as you want in the intervening days to familiarize yourself with the rules changes. There is a readme file which details all of the rules changes.
Whew, OK, if you're interested: post here! Or ICQ me. This should be fun!
