alpha centauri before AD1000

Is it possible to get to alha centauri before AD1000, Ive headr a roumour, so I look at the last 10 pages of threads and no-one seems to mention it. I thought i'd have a go, so the best way was to make a map which was all grassland and litlle bits of water so I could irrigate, I got no where near. If someone has done it, then could you attach your save file to prove it, Thanks

You can do it with caravans going in all directions to finish researching all the techs to build the SS. I know there are players here that could do this.

No, when you deliver a caravan to a city, you get an initial bonus of gold and additional trade arrows to the city that the caravan came from. NOw, you also get an additional bonus in science beakers equal to the bonus in gold. If you deliver a caravan and get 150 gold, you'll also get 150 science beakers free. So, people can complete their techs in record techs by constantly delivering caravans to destinations for max bonus.
