Amazing starting position

I got the best starting position that I have ever gotten the other day.

Before moving my first unit - 2 Floodplain/Wheat
Moved my worker - 2 more Floodplain/Wheat
Moved my scout - 1 more Floodplain/Wheat

Total - 5 Floodplain squares with wheat!

My city was on a river, with 6 squares of forest to the left, all flood plains to the right.

Needless to say, I had a tough time getting enough shields each time before I had enough food for a new settler.

I'll try to get the file to post. Played it on my friend's comp due to my own being screwed

Lucky!

My starting positions have all been rather blan. My last one/current one is rather dry... In fact I had to destroy China just to get access to iron!

You should divide the worked squares evenyl between plain and forest and then after settlers built shift all to floodplain for a while then all to forest until it is big enough so it divides up nicely

mine are plains far away from rivers or any special or above average resources <sigh> :(

Its still fun to play them though :)

It'd be great to see what it's like ;) Get the game! :satan:

Lately, the game seems to've decided that all of my starts should be either at the end of a long, narrow peninsula, or on a patch of grassland surrounded by jungle. In my last games, I may even come out on top from a start of the later kind - I've killed the Romans (securing their much nicer homeland) and is keeping up reasonably well with the Greeks, the only other civ on my continent. The environmentalists of the future are going to hate what I'm doing to all that jungle, of course ...

One time, i placed my 2th city on a spot woth 3 flood plains 2 forrest on grass 6 hills 6 mountains 3 plains (next to a river) 5 spots with gold on the hills and mountains.
it was also right next to my capitol without overlap. If that city grows to size 19 it will have a hell of a production and even more commerce. while almost no corruption or waste. :D

Nothing will ever beat that start I had which was jungle 10 tiles deep to every side.

And to think after that lightning start, Otto had the nerve to call my civilization puny.

in the tournament game 1-3, there is an island that has a posible city spot with 4 (or 5, cant recall if the 5th one was outside the border) cows
i know it wasnt a starting position but still.

also in that same game the english (if you take the regular dif game) started on a square that was on turndra, with 2 hills and forests around it, its only saving grace was a game bonus on one of the tundra, but even with that it could only grow to a city size of 4 MAX.
