At the risk of spoiling James Cameron's 'magnu opus', "Avatar" takes place in the Alpha Centauri system. I realize it would take an insane level customization, but has anyone given thought to modifying SMAX to incorporate the concepts and figures from the movie?
My thinking is the Na'vi could take the place of the Progenitors, with a split between them over those who want to exterminate the Terrans versus those willing to tolerate them. Because early Terran settlers had gone to lengths to 'educate' them, the Na'vi are now a more proto-industrial culture (a cross between the Gaians and the Cult). The other Terran factions are survivors of a final exodus from Earth, one that arrived and overwhelmed the original mining operation.
Presumably the various lifeforms from the game can have their icons modified to reflect the likes of the Direhorses, Banshees, etc..
Oh, and "Probe Teams" have a specialized power call "Avatar", which cuts their failure rate with operations against Na'vi. Terrans otherwise can't to anything against them.
Anyone think this is doable?
