I have a question for anyone who already tried to change the weapon of a unit ...

When exchanging all the weapons between the units, did anybody try to "play" with the mace ?
I'm trying at the moment to put the mace in the hands of Rabbit's (terrific) evil winged-swordman, but I have a problem with the ball and chain.
I mean I can put the stick in the hand of the buddy, but "chain and ball" doesn't seem to be an object in itself, it's just a nod. And each time I finally manage to rotate and translate this nod to make it touch the stick, the viewer crashes when I save

Is anybody aware how to deal with the mace ?

Thanks in advance.

The thing with the mace is that it has bone nodes, just like units, and it's very tricky (read: so far impossible) to move those between files. I might look it into one day, or somebody else will, but it is entirely possible that in fact there is no way to move it to other units.

Thanks for prompt reply

Damn, I'm a bit disappointed ... I would have really enjoyed that winged demon with a big mace in the hand ...
Anyway, I've only been "playing" with the NIF Viewer since this very morning, and tried to apply the "sword exchange" from your tutorial to another weapon ... I have the feeling that I need a little bit more training to deal with that mace

I'll come back to this later :D

Azatoth: Give the maceman wings instead?

How about someone makes a peasant mob? With pitchforks and axes. That would make an excellent draft unit.

These look simply awesome! Makes me wish I had even a shred of talent of my own. lol I especially love the scimitars - my favorite type of sword.

One question though...

Could someone direct me to a tutorial that will explain how to insert the five files into the Civ4ArtDefines_Unit file? I'd like to make a UU (Swordsman), but the Vanilla Civ entry for Swordsman has only 4 graphics references and one of these is a .kfm file (not included in the downloads here).

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. I've looked around, but the only tutorials I can seem to find just involve changing unit names/stats/etc. Any help offered would be most appreciated.

Heh, that's true but when in combat what happens, is that he actually grabs the hilt with both hands (that's why in this pic the one hand holding the hilt is at the very tip) - it looks good. :)

@LittleRedPoint: I have a stone axe in my weapons pack post. Just download it and replace warrior's club or maceman's mace with it, using the NIF viewer, it's very easy (especially replacing the club). :)
