I guess this could be a thread for old stories about technology or computers and their relations.

Let me start off with what it was before:
  • When movie companies released movies, it was "VHS and DVD" instead of "DVD and VHS"
  • The only TV show episodes were on tape and only a selected amount
  • I had to type "win" to get into Windows 3.11 from DOS
  • I had to press the power button off after it said "It is now safe to turn off your computer"
  • When the VCR was the only machine just below my TV
  • Bootleg movies would come out after the movie was released, not before (think STar Wars, Spiderman)
  • People had to spend money to buy music CDs
  • There was no Kazaa or Napster
Hee hee

When people could spell anecdote, that was funny :p

Oh and when I was amazed by the 3D effects of Starwing and the beautiful colours of Donkey Kong Country on my SNES

It was when I posted "Submit Reply" that I realized that anecdote was spelled wrong. Then I forgot to edit it.

I was satisfied with listening to audiocassettes

You weren't charged if you wanted a paper bill (now you are)

There was no United eticket counter (computer system)

The first computer I had used cassette tapes, and programs would take several minutes to load.

My first PC had a floppy disk, now programs would take less than a minute to load.

The first time I got a hard disk, the programs loaded in seconds.

Now, I've got a PC that has 10,000 times the memory, 10,000 times the storage space, and a processor 10,000 times faster than my first computer. And programs take several minutes to load. :hmm:

Some more:

* Everything was free. Now Yahoo (mail) chages for pop forwarding, lowered from 6MB to 4MB of free space, crammed in with more ads, put a max of 15 filters, and countless other things...

* There were no popups...those were the days. Now everything's converted into paying and those that don't pay have tons of ads and popups

* I used to watch daytime TV crap, then I got a computer...
