Animals

Random thought popped into my head, what if you got a small amount of gold when you killed an elephant? Early on it's something of an accomplishment to kill an 8 strength unit, and some more gold is always nice, but later when killing them is easy, the amount isn't overpowering. Sorry 'bout the brain dribble

Just re-reading the post

I think that, as Sarisin points out too, it is a function of game speed. I normaly play marathon games, so from the scaling side I will get many more units moves, compared to the time it takes me to build a building, than what I will get if I play on quick or normal. It means that Grand Menagerie would be A LOT harder at quick speed than at marathon.
Maybe this is a function of the "not enough animals" complaint. So possibly another option of animal spawn could be coded to extend the time that animals are likely to spawn, rather than their frequency.

It would be cool if you could take the elephants back to a city and sell them for ivory. Like a trade mission?

The <bOnlyDefensive>1</bOnlyDefensive> tag in the elephants xml code make them unable to attack. This is intended, since it was thought that having so many strength 7 units was too much.

I think that <bOnlyDefensive> does not prevent units from attacking HN units. I set scouts to this in my modmod in the hopes that the AI wouldn't hunt down animals until they could capture them, but found they could still attack all the HN animals.
