Another CIV 4 Complete question...

Hi all,

My original CIV4 disk is MIA and I never got any expansions so obviously I'm very interested in the CIV 4 complete package I'm seeing around. Only thing is that it's an import. I'm in the US and I just wanted to be sure that there would be no difference from the import version, as I would spend a good deal more to get it here because there is as of yet no "Complete" offered in the US. I would need to buy the Gold edition and then the BtS expansion. That would run me close to $70 where as the import is $35 plus shipping for all 3. Kind of a no brainer unless of course there is some sort of difference with the import.

Regards

I rarely trust imports. Especially when it comes to software. I've had more issues that have resulted from the phrase, "Well it IS an import" than I care to remember...

Hmmm...guess I'll just wait for it's release in the US then. Seeing as how it's out overseas I would imagine it's right around the corner here. I'm not dropping $70 on this only to see a Complete version released a month later. That would be my luck alright.

You wouldn't need the Gold edition unless you wanted the scenarios from Warlords. BTS has all of Warlord's content minus the scenarios so just buy the original Civ and BTS.

I am also in the US, and like you, I didnt trust many of the available copies on places like eBay and other shady dealers.

However, I just ordered myself a copy from GoGamer.com, which seems to be a US based outfit. It should be here within a week, and if its all good to go, I will update this thread.

Thanks Bleys. That was the same place I had my eye on. I will also say that I have ordered with them before, namely The Witcher, which was also an import. Have not had any problems with that title as of yet.

I just got confirmation that my order shipped. I used USPS Priority mail, since I trust the Post Office far more than some other fly-by-night delivery companies (my postman knows me, other companies tend to drop our packages at the wrong door, since I live in a 3-family giant house that was split up). Total cost was under $40.00, including the extra 2 bucks for shipping.

It should be here by the end of the week Dark, I will update you once I install, patch, etc, as to any problems I have.

Oh, my friends are talking about The Witcher now, they love it.

Thanks man, but guess what? Damnest thing happened today. I found the missing disk! Now I think I'll just go get myself Beyond the Sword as it seems the overwhelming majority does not recommend the Warlords pack anyway as a separate purchase. Saves me some $$.

And by the way, if you or anyone else is reading this and is even slightly into RPG's I absolutely recommend The Witcher. Fantastico!!

WOO WOO! My copy of Complete arrived today. Very fast turn around for only an extra dollar! Less than a week from order-to-mailbox. US Post Office Priority Mail.

Installed without a hitch. Under $40 bucks, including shipping. Considering I was looking at $70+ from any other store, I am very happy.

Seeing as how it's out overseas I would imagine it's right around the corner here.

I don't think so. They have been dragging their feet on this for a long, long, long time now. In fact, it has been so ridiculously long, that I'm really starting to think they are not interested at all in the US market for the Gold edition. If they wanted to sell in the US, they would have done it long long ago - unless they are total economic idiots who don't understand brand timing (i.e. your brand loses value the longer you wait since good reviews and word of mouth approach zero over time). Which is possible. Either way, they've shown at least some contempt and some hostility toward the US market.

I think its more about marketing than anything. If they are still selling copies of Vanilla and BTS at close to original retail, there is no sense in offering "Complete" in the US.

I think as soon as sales die down on BTS, you will see Complete released in the states.
