Another Reason Not To Buy Warlords

i have to agree with the statement that performance is horrible in Warlords. I would compare the performance problems with when Civ4 first came out. Late in the game, things will bog down, graphics get corrupted and i get the "virtual memory out of space" or whatever error that i get from all the memory leaks. i wouldnt say dont buy this game, but i see where the original poster is coming from. you would think an expansion would address and alleviate some performance issues, instead of going back to square one. btw, my PC is a P4 2.8, 768mb RAM, GF4Ti 256.

Nearly the same problems for me. Does anybody know, if firaxis is working currently on a patch?

Yeah, like run the latest FPS's which I don't buy. You shouldn't need a top-of-the-line video card for blasted el cheapo 3-d like civ

Your opinion and the specs required on the side of the box differ. Respectfully, I believe the box will win this argument.

I too am annoyed by your whining. Just turn the settings down like I do. I haven't had any graphical problems. That is, other than rivers having transparent river thingies around them and not being able to see floodplains. I thought that I started in the middle of the desert!

Look, they far exceed the box specs, so back off! I thought I made that clear earlier. If you think that having the latest card is what the box says, you are imagining things.

Quote: (on the warlord's box) - 128MB Video card w/DirectX 8 support (pixel and vertex shaders). Guess what? It's a 256MB card that handles those specifics. Oh, Im sorry, that's the recommended specs. The minimum is 64MB Video card w/Hardware T&L (GeForce 2/Radeon7500 or better)

Still going full tilt other than not using the tile border outlines, and up to 1922. Until they patch this thing, it looks more like the memory defragger will do the trick.

One more thing guys. My recent antagonists got me to looking at the warlords' box, which got me interested in looking at my Nvidia controls. Thanks guys, because at least this will be a bit of fun to tinker with. What I noticed is that it has adjustments for images that vary from between high performance and high quality. This computer has been set on regular performance since I first got it, but this way I can tinker with it and see if it makes a difference, so naturally I'm switching to high quality for the time being :D . Should I go back to the performance setting, should high quality be a real bug bear, and then the game start flaking out again, I will switch it to high performance and see what that does. I'm not interested in changing a bunch seperate video options in the game itself, as I know I had no problem with vanilla, but tinkering with a setting intrinsic to the video card itself is much more appealing as I'm seeing it now.

I suppose this will be my final report. It's a failure. I got to 1950 and got a CTD. I was using the video card high performance setting when this happened. It suggested me lowering my video settings, which of course I will not do. It looks like it's back to vanialla for me, until the patch that is. It looks like that memory defrag bought me about 100 years tops.

Another thing is making warlords look bad to me. In another thread somebody said that marines and SAM's are disappearing from the training list. I at first assumed they were wrong, as I know good and well it worked in vanilla. But later I thought about it a little bit more and discovered that I had never played deep enough into warlords to get to mech infantry. The theory at the moment is that the researching of mech infantry is deleting those units from training possibilities. Another peculiar thing I noticed (did I tell you I just love warlords  ) is despite my researching to attain modern armor and my having oil and aluminum it would not let me train a unit that way. I definitely had oil hooked up because I could build panzers and I physically saw that I had aluminum hooked up, so what's the deal??????????????????????
