I had little to no luck finding presentable mines in google-search... However i still would like to create my own.
Anyone got any good pics of what they looked like? I am interested in anything from ancient times to early industrial :)

No thoughts? :borg:

I created this smelter:

That smelter would be nice in the city for an industrial era ;) Basically a mine is a shaft that leads into a hillside mountian etc. That is for hard rock mining strip mining is just ugly and ruins the landscape.

Well, are you trying to make an actual mine, or just something to represent mines? In game all they do is add production to the country-side, so any building that could potentially do that is a mine :undecide:

The smelter looks good. Maybe with your English city set?

I've always liked the idea of "mines" having the graphics of a small village. That smelter is excellent, by the way.

Me to. To bad mines arn't like irrigation with many various looks about them. I think something small and not to noticable or distracting in numbers looks good. 'Soft mines' came about in this way.

THe building Varnos uses look good cuz he used a 'soft' technique that grouped in numbers has more of a symbol look of a village like plotting landmarks on a map.
Instead of tryin to make many buildings illistrate the same point, his makes the map very clean yet more detailed looking.

I like the smelter.
