I'll be content with 1.17 until 1.18 comes out, provided it doesn't take too horribly long.

what are your issues with 1.17 anyways? Haven't all the bugs been eliminated? What bugs remain, if any?

the biggest problem with 1.17 is the AI tech trading/tech devaluation. The AI will trade techs to each other for virtually nothing, causing the rate of tech progress to increase dramatically. It makes for a less immersive game and gives a sense of player vs the entire world rather than player vs 8/9/10/etc individual civs.

I'm surprised so many people are happy with 1.17, its awful compared to the previous patch. I guess people are just beginning to adapt. I've started delaying my first settler a few turns, for an extra scout/warrior. Take away goodie huts from the expansionist civs and (very) occassionally, get a tech for myself.

well, 1.17 does do a lot of things well, and it's no more broken than 1.16 was with tech trading during the player's turn.

Wasn't the tech trading during the players' turn only initiated by loading from an auto save? I was under the impression it was pretty easy to avoid. I could be wrong, its happend before. :)

well, it wasn't just tech trading, they also traded communications and maps during the player's turn. I don't remember if it was an auto-save only issue or not, but it did seem to affect every game i played

The other Civs seemingly giving away techs/maps to each other, but not leting the player have them for a fair price bugs me like hell too...

What was the problem with the 1.16 patch?

The problem with 1.16 was that the AI could trade on your turn. In my opinion, this was preferable, though still annoying. It had fewer side-effects, at least.

No more than half a day later and we have news on an upcoming patch! :) I hope they decide to address the tech trading issues, as well as the new additions. I can't imagine they wouldn't after the response 1.17 has been recieving.

Thanks for clearing that up for meh.......now that you guys mention it, I know what you mean. Hopefully 1.18 will clear this up and restore competitive balance.

I'm sure Firaxis will fix the problems as they have been very responsive to most of our complaining. For all of my complaining about 1.17 I still hope they playtest 1.18 a little before release so some of these problems don't come up.

There are a lucky few who already have 1.18...
