Anyone else playing the heck out of Civ 5 in preperation for BE?

I have. I'd like to think a space victory would be a natural progression into CivBE to allow the continuation of your game.

No. I never really stopped. So if I play, I don't do it "in preparation". ;)

However, I have to admit that I played way less for the last couple of month. (It is summer, out there!)
And I am quite glad, I did so - or the already embarrassing hour count would be even higher.

Why should a high hour count be embarassing? If anything one should be glad that you have a thing you enjoy. Don't let your personal happiness be influenced by what others could be thinking about what you do. :)

On topic I have to admit that I played 3 big games the last month, but now want to give it a break for a while :)

I start it up only to realise there is only one way to play the game... tradition start, beeline universities, etc, etc...
The lack of diplomacy and a smart AI usually makes me quit the game after an hour or two and go play a Paradox game instead.

Try using some mods and force yourself into other strategies then. If you can stand Paradox games, then creating Immersion for yourself through forced roleplaying should come easy to you.

Also unless you are specifically going for max efficiency and turn records, you really don't have to play that way at all. For a game that gets criticized for having AI that just cannot win, I'm surprised at how often I see people imply that if you don't follow a very specific meta, somehow the AI is going to magically become competent and beat you.

No, because I don't have Civ V, but I am seriously contemplating picking it up so I can get used to the different mechanics to CivIV

I'm taking a break from Civ 5, I need to prepare my body. Besides... this..

HERE we go ... my last Play after 1900 hours

43 civ's DLL / 20 City states / TSL / All DLC's
some Graphik Mods
largest modded World Map (think 250x100 or so )
Level 5 and Marathon !!!

Personal it isn't allowed for me to attack any AI , so playing
as Austria to have a Chance !
But you start in Europe, so you don't have enough space ...

The neighbors attacking me every 20 rounds , or all together :-)
Survived now till 1000 AD ..

BUT THE GREATEST PROBLEM IS , horrible AI Turn times, as that damn enigne is playing the AI sequential, so it needs at least (43 AI+City States+Barbarians) x 3 seconds , if a Country isn't doing much ...

WAITING 98% of the time ,,,
but I will finish that map :-)

And also playing with brother a MP (+10 AI + 24 Citystates) Game, also Lev 5 !

but FEAR "Beyond Earth" will be the same terrible coded GAME ENGINE (Performance)

LOL @bezurn... you have too much free time matey! :)

Only up to 1600hours myself :) Gnomoria is taking up too much ciV time :)

Nope, I will continue playing IV with my friends as we all find it much more enjoyable. I'm hoping that we will enjoy BE because it doesn't have to be at the same standards that IV was as its not actually a civ game. Just civ-like.:deadhorse:
