I've started using it. Thus far the only problem I have is downloading -- I can't. Everytime I click on a file (so far I've just tried zips) it tells me that the file couldn't be opened because the source file couldn't be read. Now I keep an IE window open just for pasting the link to the file in it so I can download. Anyone know what's up?

Not really sure about the dowload... Never had trouble with that...
If you're downloading for Windows via mozilla.org, you should be getting a .exe file, use that.. shouldn't have problems...

As for using Mozilla, yes, I use it, and love it! Would never go to anything else, especiually not IE, if you're only getting FireFox, as most do now, It's still very good. I use the full, CPU-draggin version :D

No, I have never had trouble with that before. Try messing around with the Preferences somewhere. (Under Edit)

I have just regular Mozilla, and love it!!! I find IE to be much, much inferior after Mozilla.

Bleh, I don't really like the Mozilla download manager. Try Firefox.

On to your problem: Try a clean reinstall.

I fiddled with the other two download options ("Open Progress Dialog" and "Don't open anything", but then nothing would happen, not even an error message.)

I've been using it since around M12 or so. I love it, even though there have been a few UI changes over the years that are annoying.

Firefox is nice, but I hate with a passion the download manager, so I use the standard Mozilla build. One of these days, I'll get around to building a new version of Firefox without the download manager, but I'm too lazy to hunt around in the giant mess that is the Mozilla source.

You can set in the option sFirefox not to use the DL manager, IIRC. :p

If you do that, you get no indication that anything is happening until the download finishes. I want the option that Mozilla has (and Firefox USED to have), which is the little status window for each download.

I d/l'd a plug in for that, it was on the bottom near the status bar. Didn't like it (I prefer the little windows myself) so I uninstalled it. Don't remember what it was called, tho.

I was forced onto FireFox by gmail.com which for some reason would not work with MSIE 6.00 (though the latest version of IE is OK) or beta versions of Mozilla :(

In this browser, the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) doubles as "open in new tab". This is a pain in the arse when trying to scroll through long pages with many links!! :(

Disabling the feature doesn't help, it changes the effect to "open in new window".

Mozilla designers need their heads examined. It's a nice product, just flawed by people trying to be clever :(

Download tabbrowser extensions if you haven't done so yet. Go in the context menu, and just disable any action associated with middle click if you don't like it.

And maybe it's not the way you want it to work, but I don't think the middle click action is flawed. Actually, I couldn't live without it, just like I can't live without the mouse gestures anymore.

I agree with Sodapop, the middle click function was annoying for a while, but once I realized just how powerful it was, I quickly changed my tune.
