are Pyre Zombies working correctly?

My understanding of Pyre Zombies was that they were supposed to inflict damage on whatever killed them. Specifically, from their in-game Civolopedia text, they were supposed to inflict collateral damage on any unit within 1 square of them when they died.

Before reading this text more carefully the last time I used them, I thought that they would inflict damage on any stack that they attacked (assuming the died) or upon their own stack when they were killed. But after reading more carefully, it seems that they should inflict damage on the stack they were in, and any other stack within 1 square any time they are killed. I'm uncertain whether the "stack they are" is the square where they are at, or the square they are attacking (assuming they are an attacking unit) when they are killed.

Either way, it really doesn't appear to be working. I thought that it would be a good tactic to attack an enemy city with 3 pyre zombies (making sure none of them are within a square of each other when attacking) before sending a true occupying force to take the city. However, when I sent several zombies, each one left *no* collateral damage on the stack in the city they were attacking. And every time I've had a pyre zombie that was attacked, the attacking stack also took no collateral damage. There seems to be a problem.

I have no save game at this time. However, I can create a save game if necessary to show that they are not creating collateral damage on attacked or attacking stacks at all. The only collateral damage seems to be on my *own* stacks if I have an attacking zombie in them. If the collateral damage is only meant to be retributive on the attacking civ, then they are obviously worse than the Axemen they replace, as well as worse then The Drown which are a viable alternative to them. Am I crazy, am I wrong, or are they still not working as advertised?

No, they don't seem to be working since .23 came out, but I've had a few killed and NO damage got inflicted on the killing unit at all.

If they're attacking *from* a stack, they damage only their own stack on death. Not as intended at all, but I believe it's been mentioned already in the bug thread.

Fixed in 0.23c, according to the changelog.
