I believe there were lancers but in the 2nd Suakim expedition. Think they were Indian troops though.

Yep, the 21st Lancers led a famous charge during the battle of Omdurman in 1898. Remember that the lancers were armed with a carbine as well, and most of the Mahdists were armed with swords and spears, so it seems like an ok match. Interesting sidenote, a young officer by the name of Winston Churchill was with the 21st lancers during the battle, although officially he was part of a different unit.

British Lancers Suakim campaign 1885 (5th Irish Royal Lancers)

Balaam-Agab has included several Indian Lancer units in his pack of The Raj. There are many units in that pack suitable for use wherever Indian troops were deployed between the mid-18th c. and WWI.

Yes, thanks, already have them all in case I decide to include in my mod the second Suakim expedition which had several Indian units.
