Plz plz plz firaxis add auto recon air mission, think of no longer having to ring your land with ships..

I would also like the ability to make a no fly zone over your land, If you are at war or not.

Then make a helecopter able to transport 2 infantry 9 squares from an airfield and paratroopers able to go 12-15. :crazyeye:

:goodjob:

No fly zone = Air Superiority.

Auto Recon = Just use recon every turn, you lazy bastard. :p

Helicopters now transport 3 units, BTW.

I would like less units to move considering I have 300+ units to move each turn:p

btw I posted a reqrest like this just 4 or 5 minute ago

Abso friggin lutely!
No more ringing the coast with ships and I won't have to keep tagging helecopters as no nationality.
Let the boats stay in dock or be stationed for def/strike.

2 other Ideas I'd like to add.

1) The ability to negotiate peace between warring civs.
2) An intruder alert like in the powerbar.
If your borders have been breeched it'd be nice to know without visualy searching the coast.

Why ring your land with ships? Just build 5 Fighters and have them do recon on your border each turn, cycling where they do it. That should give you a full view of your border every 4 turns or so.

@ Maximus:

1. I don't think that's a good idea. You'd get TOO much influence in foreign affairs.
2. An intruder alert? You pretty much already get one. You see them move into your territory. :p Just pay attention when the AI moves.

EDIT: 300+ units to move? I think that's overkill. I've never had a standing offensive army of more than 100 and I can win on Emperor...

It'd be amazing if you had the ability to force two warring civs to sign a peace treaty - perhaps this could be dependent on your own civ's military capabilities and leverage vis-a-vis the other civs (ie they being dependent on you for resources, techs, etc).

I also wish you could donate military units to other civs, as in Civ2, or have a new ability to sell military units. Doing so would add a whle new dimension to the game, and make it much more realistic!

If you don't ring your island with ships how do you know a transport is incoming? I would need about 25 or 30 planes to scan my borders in my current game and i don't wnat to have to do it by hand. I also don't want to have 30 or 40 battle ships just ringing my island.

You've never had more then 100 troops? In my emp game I have 153 mobile infantry.. 90 modern armor, 52 stealth bombers, 31 arty, 15 workers, 29 battle ships, 38 nuc subs, and countless f15's:goodjob:

I love the auto bombard for the bombers.. now i just would like auto recon.

I'm refering to using the same tacticts you do in other situations.

"Hey Russia & China. If I give you both wines and 400 gold will you sign a peace treaty?"

As for ringing the coast with ships...
Man, I usualy play HUGE worlds. It takes about 50 ships or more to ring my territory. What a waste. Would it be so hard to get an "auto recon"?
Also, "Standing armies?" In a huge world with 12 civs we're talking a few hundred troops. At least for me.

RE; Intruder alert.
Most times I take off the "show friend moves" to save memory and time. So an alert would be very helpful in leu.

I'm saying that you see them move into your actual territory. BTW, I'm not against auto-recon - it would be a nice improvement - but I think it takes second status behind important bugs (gpt bug, corruption bug) and very helpful additions.

BTW, when I said I never had 100+ units, I was referring to offensive. I don't count the Infantry I have in my cities, I only have a handful of defensive units for the frontline (blitzkreig!) and I don't usually build a large air force unless I want to play around with an "ultimate war" (as in totally crushing the enemy without mercy).

EDIT: Stats instead of additions? What the hell am I saying?

that's not very helpful, you have to be very lucky to spot a transport in the same area you hapen to be 'reconning' plus it takes a turn to rebase them, i say build up a minuture army of stealth fighters (longer range) and asign one to each border city so you can recon your borders every turn, and of course make sure you have some ships or planes (gotta love the leathal bombardment ability:D ) you'd need some prety small borders to use your plan

I build about 40 Destroyers, 30 Cruisers, and 20 or so Battleships. That is my "defensive" navy (don't get me in to my offensive navy;)) I think this is a great idea and it does not like that hard to put in.
