Your capital receives a +1 boost to all yields. Does this mean +1 culture, +1 food, +1 production, +1 science, +1 faith, +1 gold and no change to tourism, amenities, housing, envoy influence points, great people points, etc?
click on the capital, all those little radio buttons with the yeild icons will show you a tooltip breaking down the totals. In this case, if it's early enough in the game, you aught to have a +1 from modifiers under each of the yields there. That's from Autocracy.

In my current game I have noticed the +3, +2 and +1 from modifiers from Autocracy in my capital (different values for different yields). Strange. A bug?

Every game now. The culture and science may seem small but are of more value to me than GP or experience.
The military slots at this stage are underrated, when I play Gorgo or Freddy I often have 3 in place. Manoeuvre, raid and the 1GPT saving on troops I cannot remember just now.
Raid in particular... sometimes I will put off a city for a turn if I can get an extra 100 science or culture.
I've never used it, but maybe I should. You can always use it early to build up your troops and army, and still switch to another gov later once the economic policies start having a better influence.
I like to dive through autocracy to help build the collossseum and it comes around that. Picking up a legacy bonus is good too. Come to think about it, republic is a mistake for me since great people sources are not too good and 15% is small, and early great people aren't good. Unless you want religion.
Autocracy allows you to run Agoge or Manuever plus Conscription along with Colonization and Urban Planning so you can build and afford a huge army while you are expanding. Raid is indeed awesome. Invading AI Gilgamesh who has spammed Zigaurats can be an incredibly potent source of science.
