I really am very computer illiterate...and would like some help with an avatar.
I have a picture, in "Bitmap" image, that I would like to use. Unfortunately the file size is very large, 2.25MB.
Could someone advise what file type I should save this picture and then could someone please help me make it an avatar compatible 70 x 70 and 4kb?

You could try saving it to a gif, jpg or a png.

irfanview does a good job of resizing and saving as a different type of pic. It is freeware and you can find it easily on google.
It is always best to save your image as a .jpg BEFORE resizing it as it will be a better image afterwards.
I think that this site now has the capabilities of dl'ing direct from imageshack

Thanks, I have now saved it as a jpeg picture and it is now 32kb.
I have MS paint and I am now struggling to resize the picture to 70 x 70 pixels. When I try the picture doesn't shrink, I only get the top left hand portion of the picture?
