Whether you're Christian or not, we all celebrate Christmas...

And as we count down our advent calendars to the special day when we all get presents, it's time to get into the holiday spirit. That's why this week is going to be Jesus Avatar Week. Come, all ye faithful! And there are so many Jesii to pick from!

Jesus Christ, Superstar

Tapdancing Jesus

Jesús

Black Jesus

Baby Jesus

Zombie Jesus

Yeshua (Limited Hebrew Edition Jesus)

And of course, the Jesus 9000 ("Open the Pearly Gates, Jesus." "I'm sorry, but I can't do that, Dave.")

So pick a Jesus, join the party, and have a Merry Christmas! It's the American Way.

Important Note: This can be moved to the Humor forum if needed, but I posted it here because (despite the somewhat light-hearted tone of the OP) its intent is not to poke fun at Jesus or Christianity but rather to explore the hundreds and even thousands of different ways Jesus is portrayed in our culture, in a way that allows all forum members to participate.

I like the Anarchist Jesus.

You know, the one who called priests hellspawn and whipped moneylenders.

Any good ideas for a Jesus/Pentagon hybrid?

Yeah, make a pentagon-shaped halo over Jesus' head. Note that gold can also be red. ;)

Leprechaun Jesus.
Expansion, pleace?

No we don't all celebrate christmas.

I don't, in fact a few years ago I spent the whole month completely out of my gourd. It was fun but I think my liver protested too much, I wasn't celebrating the birth of Christ, more just trying to remain happy :) New years is generally more fun for those non believers.

And people wonder/complain about all the religious threads in OT. Well, here is why.....

I cant help but think that this thread is just another vehicle from which to antagonize the Christian posters here at CFC.

As such, isnt this just another typical troll thread?

No, because it involves funny pictures.

Did it/would it ever occur to you that perhaps, just perhaps, some people would find "funny" pictures of their lord and savior somewhat offensive?

Clearly this one must not be forgotten:

Could be, but on the other hand it could be an opportunity to gloat about how great a Christian Christmas is. No offence but it must be a shed load better if your in the spirit of it.

I meant "please expand", as I am not familiar with Leprechaun Jesus.

But you are familiar with Zombie Jesus, Anarchist Jesus and all the other Jesuses in here?

Did it/would it ever occur to you that perhaps, just perhaps, some people would find "funny" pictures of their lord and savior somewhat offensive?

Stop reading right here then.

That's like Elvis fans saying that they take offense at the various treatments of Elvis in pop culture. All one can say is: too bad. There are two Elvises: the actual real Elvis who lived and died decades ago, and the Elvis who exists as an artifical construct animated by the modern culture and has superficial or no relation to the original Elvis. The Elvis fan has the choice to either constantly be offended by jokes about pompadours, UFOs and velvet paintings in redneck diners, or he can recognize that mocking an icon of pop culture is not the same as mocking the man who originated it.

I'm Jewish and I celebrate Christmas for two simple reasons:

1. Jesus was a Jewish rabbi who said smart things, therefore his life should be celebrated even if some people have gone overboard about it.
2. Presents.
