[Civ2] Beginner Guide?

Does anyone have a link to a good beginner guide for this game (no cheese/exploits)? I got a used copy of this game at a convention a few months ago and would like to play it, but it seems like a very different beast from the more modern ones and I'm a little intimidated and confused.

FYI I have the PlayStation version, not the PC one. AFAIK they're basically identical, except the PlayStation version doesn't support scenarios or custom maps.
