Preparing for the Persians...
Well, I wanted to try something different (I normally playe as rome), so I picked another one of my favorites (to learn about) the Mongols. I'm playing on Marla Singer's World Map on Regent, where the Mongols historically stated. The others are already into the Middle Ages and I'm in the Acient Age, with No Mathematics, Construction, or Code of Laws. I fear that by the time I can get Keshiks they'll have cavalry. any way to help me in this tough situation?

If the great library isn't built already you could try building that. If it is already built, then maybe try going to war before the others get too much ahead of you.

Gyarrr! It's been built. Shoot! Wish I thought of that. I'm going for a Conquest Victory, but My closest opponent that I know of is in Greece, and I can't easily resupply troops. This is where the Keshik comes in. It's quite mobile. Mountains are treated as grassland! Problem is, I fear they'll have cavalry by the time I get it.

You need to get techs by conquest. Pummel a few key cities(the capital if possible) and then sue for peace. Many times you can get everything they have, besides second level techs that you can't yet see on the diplo screen. Then you can hopefully trade some of those techs to a civ in the same situation you are in.

This is why it is good to keep an eye on which civs are behind in the tech race. You can use them to catch up a whole lot faster. ;)

Problem is, I've taken the Zulu capital, and all I can get is Mathematics. I have 2 or 3 more required techs to go!:(

O well. I should go continue that game...

If your losses are heavy in a war, it'll be harder to get stuff from your enemy, because even thought you've taken their city (and maybe even capital), they dont regard you as a "winner" of the war. However, if you've taken their capital, killed off (say) 15-20 of their units without a single loss yourself, they'll be the big losers of the war, and will pay anything to get peace.
Therefore, build plenty of bombardment units to soften up the targets before attacking with your offensive forces.

isint the mongle uu kinda weak?? its les atack but 10 cheaper, i think it shold cost 50, (2o cheaper) if not add plus 1 atack or movment.
the arab uu is weaker in defnes, but faste in movement, but is cheaper. (4.2.3)

The Mongol UU is fast, in the fact it treats hills and mountains like grassland.

I've blasted research to max, and I'm catching up. Soon I shall build about 30 Keshiks and conquer Europe!
