Bhiita's model progresion thread

@civinator- the attackA would need to be the bombard but anyone who usees it can switch the flics around to suite them if I animate it like that. I'm not sure if I'm done with the model yet though :)
I do like the idea of treads though, aposed to legs but I just had an idea for some cool legs. 6;)

@hunter-I was trying to find imformation on that! I remember seeing Smoking Mirror refer to it a long time ago, but forgot the name  PLEASE send me in the direction of some reference material, I would like to try some of those ideas. If I remember correctly, there should be some walking tanks right?

Wait a minute, :hmm: I think SM was refering to a book or books. not a game. I looked up the game, it sounds cool, but I want to find what SM was talking about. Perhaps SM might visit my thread :)

bhiita that tank looks great. keep up the good work. :goodjob:

Here is a link to the game Iron Storm:
http://www.iron-storm.com/

The game is just a first person shooter and Im not completely happy with there storyline however the idea is fun (less fun in the trenches:) ). the thing is that modern armor would look some what different if WW1 ideas had continued. They had several light tanks however the bulk of the tanks on the drawing board were massive land ships. Static warfare would, if continued would have changed the face of the modern world. Not that I believe ww1 could have gone on indefinitely since the people were very tired by 1918. My scenario is a post 1923 peace agreement, a temporary pause to rebuild in a cold war fashion. but the rest I will keep to myself for now until I can work on it. Which I think I will do with this unit.

:hmm: I like the idea of your scenario :) and the units are probably what I would prefer to make. Be watching your PM ;)
I  big tanks :) I've got a couple in the prototype stage

here's one, it's cute :mischief:

I'm not sure what to do with it though  I thought it could be a gorilla tank for the NA scenario, maybe

 I can't stand it :o would you believe that I didn't save the huge tank  I wouldn't either, but it's true. My wifes home now so I'll make another while it's still fresh in my mind. and she has the baby

and thanks Piernik, that means alot coming from you :) I found a couple of tutorials that made the difference. I still need to learn a lot though. the first model that started the thread was the result of learnig how to use splines and nurbs better, plus a few other neat stuff.

Oh... I thought it was polygons.

there are few methods of modeling: Polygons, pathces, nurbs and meshes - your choice;)
I know. Although, the basic two are polygons and nurbs. Polygons made up of Faces with a number of Vertices each. Most basically 3, that's triangels, and 4 which is quads. Nurbs are made of curves and surfaces aplied to those curves. Patches are just a way to work with Nurbs, and mesh, well that's a Polygon surface.

I don't know the exact deffinition of most of the lingo. The way I understand it is, splines alow you to draw a silloette(sp) then aplying a nurb to it 'skins' it. Like the frame of a boat. I can just build the frame, then then I can put it in a loft nurb, and then instant surface, which would be polygons. The surface is allways going to made of polygons. :) but there are many different nurb capabilities. and different splines.

:) Post 32 & 33 updated.

I'd like to call it, The Goliath, the Anti-Everything tank

;edit; I plan to make a support unt for it, scince it has no turnable turret :(
