I understand that in order to get at the art files to skin and wot, you need to unpak the .FPK files. The problem is that I found said files (assets0.fpk, assests1.fpk, etc.) but they are acting like folders. EMPTY folders. Infact, ALL the folders in CustomAssests are empty, or appear to be so. I have the latest patch installed, version 1.61 or whatever. Could someone please tell me how to get at these bloody files?

Im not sure... but unless you unpak"ed" the files.... into customassets folder... you wont find the files in there...

the files (assets0.fpk...etc) should be looked in your main Civ4 directory within the ASSETS Folder... then use the PakBuild to unpak 'em

I suggest unpak"ing" them in a separate directory from CIV4 for reference only/coping and edit files because everytime you startup CIV4 it automatically unpaks the files....

of course if you edit some of those art files place them in your customassets folder/your game mod (if you use a mod to play) and when you start up CIV4 it will unpak the art files, then any files you place in the custom assets/ your mod will override any "vanilla" unpaked files :goodjob:

hope that helps ;)

NOTE: the customassets folder has many of the folders (not all) that are supposed to contain the unpaked art/xml/python/etc files... but they are empty :mischief:

the folders are there for your convienence so that if you make any custom files you place your custom files in the already made folders

(where ever the original files are placed in the assets folder - place them in the corresponding customassets/your mod folder) :crazyeye:

O.o ohs. I was not looking in the right place. It should also be noted that the folder the files are in does not appear in the directory it's in. >_> But I was able to get the location from the init log. So..

I FOUND THEM.
yays.
thank you.
