Blank Screen

hey guys,i already played this civ3 using my bro pc and it's great.now,i want to play it using my own pc but the problem is..when i start the game..the movie is ok and then when the start page come out..it's blank but there's a music..can someone help me plzzz??

this is my pc :-
Pentium 4
nVidia GeForce 2 MX/MX400
Windows XP service pack 1

..i think the problem related to my nVidia..so,any solution?

my current civ3 ver is 1.07f

It sounds like a refresh problem.

Try adding the line Refresh=xx where xx is your monitors refresh rate to your civilizationiii.ini. To find the refresh rate, right click on the desktop and select Properties. Click on the Settings Tab, and then click on Advanced. Then find the Monitor tab on the new window. It should give you a list of your refresh rates in a drop down box.

You'll also want to upgrade to 1.29, the final Civ3 patch. I don't think it's really related to this problem, but there are gameplay issues that are addressed with the patches. You can find them here.

civilizationiii.ini??I dodn't found that file..

and i don't think this way will work..anyone..else?

The .ini file isn't created until the game starts....

What version of directx are you running?
As Turner suggests, patch to v1.29f: Patches are here: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3patches.shtml

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.

Yeah, my bad. You can create the file and the game will append to it as needed.

Sounds like you need to buy the game. My room mate had the same problem when he tried to pirate Civ 3 from a warez source, when he bought it worked fine.

but my fren using a pirate one and it's working well..

no,i can't use the patch since it's keep telling me "CD NOT FounD"....

i think it's related to my nVidia GForce 2 video card..how to check what version of my video card?should i update it?
