CIV IV - Beyond The Sword Expansion - Realism Invictus mod
I purchased my copy of CIV IV via the GOG website. They say when using their site,
the money goes straight to the developers of the game, rather than a third party.
I am not a game moder, although I appreciate them and use some of the more stable ones.
Should I have any concerns about map size and compatibility when using a modern desktop pc?
A quick definition of my system:
Dell (refurbished) 2 thousand dollar desktop PC
Windows 11 64-bit OS
System Model XPS 8950
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K, 3600 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 20 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
VRAM 8024 MB
My understanding about the 64 bit OS is...even though that's a lot of bits
I might want to avoid random maps of "giant size" (or) if using the
world map scenario avoid the huge size option for that.
See pg 10 of the Realism Invictus 3.6 Manual
Looks like the world map scenario is available in large or huge size
and I'd have to go into either the "scenarios" or "custom scenarios"
area to find it. That's different than just going into "play now"
and selecting a map.
RI Scenarios vs Ri Custom Scenario
RI custom scenarios are more customizable in some way.
I don't know exactly what that means for sure.
My understanding of bundled scenarios for RI
(1) They are huge in size
(2) Might put some strain on my system
(3) They are fixed with no (in-game) command for randomizing.
Just to clear up my confusion...if an RI mod scenario is bundled, where will I find it?
Regarding custom map generation scripts:
Not being a moder myself I don't know exactly what they are.
I would imagine they are the text file or software that helps generate the custom map?
Here's an exerpt from the Realism Invictus 3.6 Manual on that subject...
when you use a custom map generation script for the first time, to ensure that it is
working correctly, it is much recommended to generate a map and inspect it with WorldBuilder
to see if all resources have appropriately spawned and nothing is wrong otherwise.
So at any rate I guess that's the end of my questions.
I greatly appreciate any friendly advice I can get. Thanks.
