Blue Marble compatibility question

I have the Direct 2 Drive versions of Civ4 and BTS. I really love the graphic detail that Blue Marble adds but the download page says that it is compatible "with CD/DVD version of Civ4".

Does this mean I cannot use Blue Marble with my Direct 2 Drive version of CIV? If I cannot, is there another graphics MOD out there that does the same thing as Blue Marble, but is compatible with Direct 2 Drive?
