BNW crashes on loading or loading saves.

So I have 3 computers. One at work and two at home. My main one is a really good computer and I have NO issues with it on this game but I have to leave it right now as my liquid cooling isnt working and I have to wait a month or so to fix it. But I can run the game really quickly and load in instantly on Windows XP or Windows 7 (two OS for testing reasons ^_-,why not when you have that much space).

Now my 2nd computer is windows XP and is actually a really good computer because its an old server I turned into a computer and for its cost I would say its really worth it. I hits the recommended specs literally almost perfectly so you can use that for reference if you want to know what the computer is like. Now I can actually run Civ 5 on this computer but there are a few niches. So I start up Civ 5 BNW, go into set up game, pick all my settings and lets say I do it on the larger setting (10 people, 20 city states) just because this is my favourite and I press start. Loads the game about 60% of the way into the person's speech and we are in the game. We go 10 turns in, it auto saves, then we do a quick save then a normal save and we exit the game. Now we load the game up, go into loading the saves and ALL 3 saves will hit issues. They will all be treated the same in this rule but basically there is like a 1/25 ish chance right now the save will actually load, otherwise the game just crashes on loading screen, says not responsive and doesnt load anymore. Even if i drop the graphics down to next to nothing. The one or two times It did load was after about 20 minutes of waiting which is unrealistically stupid. I play the game on max graphics with solid 60 fps and have no issues when I get into the game on this computer. Any help with this issue?

Third computer is kinda bad but just scrapes the recommended settings on windows vista but this computer has the biggest issues. It loads the game up fine on dx9/10/11 and then when I go to setup a game I wait a little while in the loading screen with the spinning ball and then windows says the game isn't responding after about 30 seconds and forces me to close it. Now the intresting thing about this computer is it actually has an old SSD on it and i put civ 5 on the SSD (yes i tried also not on the SSD) so the loading process should not be an issue. Any help with this issue?

Now for the most interesting part. Both of these computers ran civ 5 g&k PERFECTLY. Quick loads, solid fps and I never had a single issue once even when other people were having issues. Thanks for your time, I have looked around 50+ posts about things like this with no real help to be found and have tried a load of things. Im also not bad with computers so you don't have to treat me like an idiot :)

Thanks for your time!

I'm having similar issues on 2 different systems.

I have a Win7 desktop setup for gaming and on an Alienware m17x laptop. Both worked with Civ G&K but crash when I hit the load button now with BNW.

They are both running Win7 but that is the only thing that is the same, the desktop was loaded off of a Win7 Pro DVD, the Alienware had its own Win7 setup already on it. Nothing else is similar between the 2 systems besides Civ5.

I play games just fine, I just can't save them and load them because when I just hit the initial load button (not selecting a specific game) the screen goes black and doesn't do anything until I hit Cntrl-Alt-Del, then I get a runtime error.

I thought it might have been related to one of the Mod's that I had but I removed them and reinstalled the game off of Steam and I still have the same issue.

Well I haven't put any mods on my game so i'm pretty sure its not that if you have the same problem as me. I think its just an unoptimised expansion imo, too many people are having issues. The fact that all 3 of my computers could run G&K perfectly then two of them meltdown the second BNW is released obviously shows something. I have seen so many staff/admin/mod people troubleshooting issues and bringing up so many problems I'm pretty sure the they will release a patch real soon because they know theres a up somewhere. Wouldn't be the first time a Civilization V patch has boned more people than not.

Do you have Steam?

I just found that if I leave steam offline, that i can load save games without a problem. Interesting that this didn't happen before this upgrade, but i heard that Steam put some updates out as well around the same time.

why people should have steam to play a game they bought? the game needs a steam account? that sounds a bit DRM-ish to me
