1) It's best practice to defend your bombers with fighters. For every two bombers, try to have at least one fighter on intercept. SAM infantry are also helpful, tech allowing.

In Conquests , Bombers can only conduct raids as 'air-missions' so how do u provide a fighter-escort?

You can't actually escort the bombers with fighters, but if you attack the same tile (or nearby ones) with your fighters then any air defences will engage those first. Once all the defending fighters in range have been shot down or are too damaged to defend, then you can attack with your bombers unhindered.

You can also station Bombers in Forts - that helps a lot when you find a limitation on the number of air units your forward new cities can hold. They're still quite strong, especially with Fighter escort.

I lost my Emperor difficulty game because I didn't have bombers
