What do we want to do with Marl Downs and Mordhemia once
they build their settlers? What should be build in M1 when it
is founded?

Please select only one option for Marl Downs, one for
Mordhemia, and one for M1.

I'd like to see M1 build a phalanx. We know the Vikings at least have mapmaking and we don't want them just showing up and walking straight into an undefended town. (Gary knows what I'm talking about! ;) ).

Marl Downs is too far away to build diplomat, diplo should be build in Dellham and Reneaux. (that's right I want 2 of them, just in case one gets killed you know....)

M1 should be building a phalanx, rush it even! It's vulnarable up there, no help is near and the enemy is close. They can land a unit and just take the city, quite unconvenient!

Marl Downs looks good to build 2 warriors (or phalanxes, but I'd recommend warriors), one for itself and one for Mordhiemia. Therefore, Mordhiemia can build another Settler :D M1 should build phalanx, based only on the what others have said, it sounds like it's to be in a vulnerable position, I cannot find it, where is it or where is it going to be? Phalanx sounds good anyways, but only warriors for the other two because they are less vulnerable :)

Cogitating on this a bit, I voted:
Marl Downs to build Temple
Mordhemia to build Phalanx (Immediately, rather than Settler)
M1 to build Settler, but I'd like to sleep on that!

Serutan's fine picture is here: Boreum Settler MultiPoll , as well as relevant comments on a Boreum Strategy.

Citizens, Elvis is playing in Mordhiemia right now! And, we need a Phalanx to immediately guard M1 -- I really like that suggestion. So I propose we change Mord to build a Phalanx in 1 turn, then build its own Warrior Guard. Using Forest for two turns, its own Warrior can be completed in 4 turns. Then send Elvis on his way and finally build a Settler.

The B1 North Whale city will need to wait a bit. And, how about building a Diplomat somewhere up here in the North, as Consular Civ1 has suggested?

We will get more for our money if we avoid Rush Buy. Better to spend $4 or $8 to accelerate a Phalanx, and so develop efficiently, methinks.

Mordheimia build Phalanx for M1, Marl Downs to build a Warrior for happiness control, and M1 to start on a settler right away. Unless it's a city we plan to grow quickly for wonder production or some such, I prefer holding off building temples as much as possible. They become too big a drain on the economy. I'd rather control happiness with a few troops and keep building settlers to keep the size down.

On temples, my view is more in line with Leowind's. I confess to being unduly influenced by Andu Indorin's highly instructive example game . On page 4 (Modernization as Strategy), he describes a way of playing where it's possible to do very well without temples (at Deity no less). I'm not yet sure how that would apply to our current situation, however. I haven't mastered the art, but I like his concept of "trade routes as city improvements" that bolster rather than drain the economy.
