Boycott Civ 4

Interesting, when Islam is the weakest religion in the game ( founded last)

Agreed, good job guys and girls! I voted soft atheist because I think that believing in a higher power is a good thing for some people, but I have trouble accepting any type of organized religion. Mostly, I don't like the way that they portray their higher power. I just don't think that any religion's higher power fits in with the state that society is in right now. Sorry if I've offended anyone with this post, but this is just my beliefs, and I hope that it doesn't change anyone's opinion of who I am as a person too much!

I said this in another thread, and I'll expand on it a little bit. I hate it when people rant like this BerlinFreeper guy is doing. If you think a game is anti-christian and you're offended by it, then you shouldn't buy that game; end of story. I know he said his wife reviews games, but like someone else said earlier, the man is just preaching to the choir. I guess he's just exercising his freedom of speech, but I still find it very annoying.

he is ******** he is like Jack Thompson and Hillary Clinton. They make too much out of video games and consider them runing children's minds.I find it best to ignore these people or just tell them to shut up.

this game is the pinnacle of Political Correctness IMHO. Ok, maybe a US bias looking at wonders, but anti-christian
actually a good reason for me to like the game again. If CIV4 means anti-creationism, I am all for it. Maybe they are simply angry that there is no such tech as anti-scientific methods and anti-evolution theory...let's go back to the dark ages...

how is it anti-christian?
That's pretty much what I'm thinking. Civilization is awesome. I love how it portrays religion. First, I'm glad they included religion, because religion has been very important to culture and civilization throughout history. It's caused a lot of division and wars, as well as served to unite people who would otherwise not relate to each other. So, I'm glad they included it. I also like how all the religions are relatively equal, with the timing of their discovery being realistic yet balanced (since the later religions get that nifty free missionary). All in all, I like how religion is portrayed in Civ. Not anti-Christian at all. And the making of monasteries obselete via scientific method makes perfect sense, since the entire basis of learning in monasteries was based on authority instead of reason. Almost all of the learning in monasteries was designed to find out what the authorities said, not to reason things out like in the scientific method. So everything looks good to me.

They even took out the Theory of Evolution wonder, which was one of the most important wonders of civ3.

Just want you all to know. Most people on that site defended Civilization. And most thought the guy was crazy. I've seen worse people here.

BTW-The choir doesn't argue back. It was NOT "preaching to the choir".

Or maybe he was preaching to what should have been the choir, but turned out to be a disgruntled congregation.

LoL, well, there are some people who demand teching creativism in schools.
What one can do? Turn away and ignore such people. The only problem that they multiply in dark places.

Just for kicks, I think someone should post the words to the theme song of CivIV on that site, and check with BF if he feels it is anti-Christian as well... Make sure we get an answer before posting the English translation of course :satan:

Heh. The guy is a total nutball.

I agree with Jastrow.
Isnt it interesting that the theme music is a psalm (sp)? Praising the christian God? :P

Somebody post the themesong there! Quick :D

****OO!
I think Civ4 is THE most balanced "let's not offend anybody" game out there -

just goes to show you can please some of the people some of the time, but utter nutters are out to lunch!

it's true, they often have "science of spirituality" bumper stickers. they usually argue that you failing to absolutly disprove any possibility that they may be wrong on a subject proves they are right. best to observe from afar.

Yeah, it annoyed me that they took out the fundamentalist government in civ3  .
And then added Fascism in Conquest.

Wow! There sure do be lots of intolerant dunderheads casting aspersions about. Is Civ 4 some of y'alls religion? Next thing you know some of you will be telling the Thugees that they can't be strangling people and robbing them to worship their goddess Kali. Such intolerance.
