Considering that the most common meaning of the word in Brazil is a slang, it is entirely possible that said meaning is not the norm in Portugal.Thorgalaeg said:
That said, portuguese people do watch brazilian TV and are, even if marginally, influenced by brazilian vocabulary. Considering that there is the already mentioned TV show called "Zorra Total", I would be surprised if this meaning("mess") is not known in Portugal.

I'm thinking about learning a tiny little bit of Portugese. There is a Brazillian girl who is a foreign exchange student from Recife, so it might be cool if I try and learn a little Portugese (or maybe she'd just find it annoying, since I don't think I could learn enough to actually hold a conversation 
). But there was a German exchange student last year and an Italian one as well, and I know a tiny bit of German and Italian, so I thought I'd go for Portugese.
