Brave New World on Wine (Linux)

I didn't have any issues running G&K on wine, but BNW is not working on Wine. 1.6rc5 doesn't start, and both 1.5.25 and 1.4rc6 allow me to browse the Civilopedia etc, but after selecting options and starting the game, it just hangs on the loading screen (the one with the selected leaders head and some information with "loading..." on it). It's just burning CPU with no apparent output to the wine console.

Are others experiencing similar issues or is it working fine for them. Any suggestions?

I had many issues as well after I installed BNW: crashes, serious graphical errors and a whole bunch more. The only way I got it to work so far is by disabling the G&K expansion in-game (DLC menu item) and have BNW enabled. I'm new to Civ5, but it seems that this way the only thing I'm missing out on are the G&K specific campaigns and civilizations, but all gameplay is the same. For now, this is an acceptable workaround for me, and has solved all issues I had with playing BNW on Linux.
