Could someone make a stone quarrie (city improvement)
perhaps a marble deposit as a luxury resource
and dang nab it someone please bring back farmland....
I think it's silly to have a modern civ with irrigation running all over the place. It doesnt look modern *sigh*

ANYONE else got any bright ideas..add to the thread

Stone Quarry - No problem. What would you like the prerequisite tech to be and what would you like it to do? (Never played CivII much 'cause of its lackluster graphics)

Marble Luxury Resource - The only problem here would be getting the graphics file in. I can make it look like another resource, but then it'd get confusing. I have a mod where I've taken out the Uranium Resource and inserted five colours of Mana and used Uranium for the icon.. only problem is you can't tell them apart.

Farmlands - trickeier. The only thing I can think of is to edit the file containing the irrigration pictures. I can't think of any way to actually have them build farmland in the current version.

I was thinking that a stone quarry should be an important improvement. The roman empire was crazy for marble and searched the globe for it.

I wish i knew more about the graphic editing...is there a program i can download and fool around with to learn a bit.

The city icons change as time goes by, would it be possible, say at the beginning of the modern age, to have irrigated terrain change in appearance to farmland?

Paintshop Pro (shareware) will take you far. I'm using v.5 and it can do all sorts of things. I like it very much.

Yes, you can definitely change the irrigation graphics. Trouble is, it is way much more work than changing one tile (as in civ2), since the irrigation has about 4 files for each irrigatable terrain. Check the arts folder and the various subfolders, and you'll find them. I don't remember right now which subfolder they're in.

Irrigation doesn't change appearance over time like the cities do.
